Summary
This is a hotfix release of USPS-R that corrects problems affecting certain situations for W2 reporting and printing.Â
Important highlights from this release
Definition
A medicare or FICA pickup employee is defined as an employee where some portion of the employee's share of medicare and/or FICA is paid by the employer.
This release corrects an issue with W2 report not correctly calculating withholding and taxable gross figures for medicare/FICA pickup employees when their pickup rate was changed after being imported into USPS-R.Â
The W2 report XML output used for third party printing was not limiting the number of localities per entry in the XML to two prior to this release.Â
The patch included on this release will now create a separate entry or entries in the XML for the additional localities as necessary.Â
Known Issues
Please Note:Â As detailed in the message sent on 1/9/2019 to the SSDT_NOTICES distribution list there is still a known issue with W2 reporting if a medicare or FICA pickup employee had an employer error adjustment processed in USPS-R where some part of that was for the medicare pickup amount.Â
USPSR-4042: Medicare and FICA - payroll item error adjustments need "is this pickup" flagClosedwill correct this issue moving forward however if this issue was encountered we do not have a way to automatically correct the report as we do not have enough information available to determine what portion of the employer error adjustment was for the medicare pickup.Â
If you were affected by this specific issue adjustment journal entries will be required to correct the W2.
ITC personnel can contact the SSDT if you have questions about how to correct this issue or in how to determine if your customers were affected. Â
