1099 Merge contains three options:

  • 1099 District Entry: Allows you to mass import districts 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC or 1099-BOTH TAP files
  • '1099 Merge': Merges the districts 1099 data (from the 1099 District Entry grid) into one file
  • 1099 Merge Results: Contains the merged file to be submitted to the IRS

1099 District Entry

  • Displays a grid of districts uploaded 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC or 1099-BOTH TAP files.  
  • Select to upload a district's 1099 TAP file.


    • Using the drop downs, select the District (pulled from 'Districts' grid), 1099 file type and correct Calendar Year you want to report to the IRS.
    • Use the to select the TAP file you want to import.  Only the TAP files created from USAS' Periodic>1099 Extract menu (IRS Format Type) will be accepted.  Click .

  • Click edit to edit an existing record. Only fields that are allowed to be edited will be displayed. You can also Delete the record from the edit window. This will remove the district's TAP file from the grid. 

  • Click if you want to download the TAP file in order to review the contents of the file.

  • Once you have entered all of your districts 1099 TAP files, please proceed to the '1099 Merge' option.

1099 Merge

Merges all districts 1099 TAP data (currently stored in the '1099 District Entry' grid), for the year specified, into one appended file. 

  • File Name: Enter a File Name for the merged 1099 TAP data
  • Year: Enter the calendar year you want to report to the IRS.  The 1099 Merge option will only merge TAP files (stored on 1099 District Entry) with the corresponding year.
  • Transmitter Name:  Enter the ITC's organization name
  • Transmitter Control Code: Enter the ITC's TCC code
  • Transmitter TIN: Enter the ITC's Tax Identification Number
  • Contact Name: Enter the ITC Contact Person's Name
  • Contact Phone Number: Enter the ITC Contact Person's phone number
  • Contact Email: Enter the ITC Contact Person's email address
  • Prior Year? Check the box if submitting a 1099 file to the IRS for a past year. 
  • Submission Type: Select the type of  file you are submitting
    • Original
    • Correction
    • Test

Click to merge all TAP files selected into one file.  The message 'Form 1099 Merge Job Scheduled Successfully' will appear at the bottom of the screen when complete.  Please proceed to the '1099 Merge Results' to review the merged file.


1099 Merge Results

Includes the merged (appended) TAP files for the districts selected in the '1099 Merge' step.  

The total number of districts included in each merged file is included on the 'total districts' column on the grid.  To quickly review the districts included in the merged file, click on Edit

To download the merged TAP file in the IRS required format, click on .  This file can be used to submit to the IRS.

When you click on , under 'District Results', you can use the scroll bars to review the districts included in the merged file.  It will display

  • the number of records in each district
  • total number of payees
  • the amounts for each 1099 type. 

If you would prefer to download the merge data into a spreadsheet, you can click on the 'Extract Results'.  If you need to delete the merged file, you can click on Delete.
