Many aspects of the SIF Agent's operation – from the transport protocol it uses to communicate with zone integration servers to the set of SIF Data Objects it supports – are configurable on a global as well as zone-by-zone basis. In addition, there are some global settings that must be established before you can use the Agent for the first time.
Settings are stored in the Agent's configuration file on disk and can be changed from one of three dialog boxes in the Console:

  • Agent Settings. Open this dialog box to change global default settings. These settings apply to the Agent as a whole and serve as defaults for all zone groups and zones. Many global settings can be overridden on a zone-by-zone basis.
  • Zone Settings. Open this dialog box to change settings for a specific zone.
  • Zone Group Settings. Open this dialog box to change settings for a specific zone group. All zones that are members of the group will inherit the default settings of the group.

This section examines each of the settings available to administrators.
