Zone Control
Connect & Disconnect
The Zone > Connect menu item connects a zone that's selected in the main window. You may need to connect a zone manually if the Agent is unable to automatically connect when it starts up. Even though the Agent will retry failed zones every 30 seconds, any error messages are not displayed on screen. Use the Connect command to force the Agent to connect and display an error message if it fails.
You cannot connect a zone that is disabled. Open the Zone Settings dialog box and mark the "Enable SIF Connectivity with this zone" first.
Ping
The Zone > Control > Ping command sends a "SIF Ping" to the server. You can use this command for zones running in Push mode as a way to determine if the server is available.
A SIF Ping is a feature of the SIF protocol and not the same as a TCP/IP network ping. It does not test whether the IP address or hostname specified in the zone URL is valid and accessible from the agent computer. If you receive "Connection refused" or "Connection timeout" errors when connecting to a zone, try opening a command-prompt and pinging the IP address of the server to ensure basic network connectivity is working.
Sleep & Wakeup
To set a zone to Sleeping status, highlight the zone. Then click Zone > Control > Sleep. To wakeup a zone from Sleeping status, highlight the zone and then click Zone > Control > Wakeup. If the agent is in sleep mode, then the zone integration server (ZIS) will not attempt to deliver messages for the Agent until the Agent wakes up again.
Unregister
To unregister the Agent from a zone, highlight the zone. Then click Zone > Control > Unregister. This will cause the ZIS to remove the Agent from the zone, and will also remove any pending messages for the Agent. The Agent will be disconnected from the zone. When the Agent connects to the zone again, it will re-register.
