MCOECN URL Naming Conventions
Use Your Own Domain
Starting in February 2023, you can use your ITC's own Domain and Naming Scheme for Production Redesign Hosting!!!
Historically we have created URL names using the ssdt-ohio.org domain, as outlined in the next section below. But we can now accommodate using your ITC's own domain for your PRODUCTION Redesign Hosted deployments.
You can also choose how you want to format your URLs.
Examples:
https://col-wo-usas.metasolution.net
https://col-dubl-eis.metasolutions.net/login (“eis” instead of “inventory”)
https://acog-usps.access-k12.org
REQUIREMENTS:
Your ITC’s technical staff will have to provide MCOECN Datacenter Team with a copy of the SSL Wildcard certificate for your domain in order to use your own domain with MCOECN hosting. We need to add your Certificate to our load balancer to provide HTTPS/SSL connectivity for your domain.
MCOECN will need a new copy of your Wildcard SSL Certificate every years when it comes up for renewal.
Your ITC technical staff will have to add DNS entries when a new production application is deployed. The MCOECN Datacenter Team does not have any control over your DNS server, so this must be done by your ITC technical staff. We will STILL create an alternate URL using the ssdt-ohio.org domain in addition to your own domain, so that portion of the deployment WILL be fully automated, and allow you to perform testing before turning on your live URL.
If you currently host with MCOECN but are not currenlty using your own domain, and wish to explore this option, please email dco-help@managementcouncil.org for further information.
Using the SSDT-OHIO.ORG Domain
When hosting production application with the MCOECN, you can also choose to use the ssdt-ohio.org domain instead.
The URL to access your application will be auto-generated in the ssdt-ohio.org DNS, and will be in this format:
https://<itc>-<district name/code>-<application>.ssdt-ohio.org
ITC will be your ITC acronym.
District Code is a name or code of your own choosing.
Application values will be : usas, usps, inventory, or workflows
If you create a "test" instance, the url will start with "test-"
If you create a "training" instance, the URL will start with "train-"
If you create a "demo" instance, the URL will start with "demo-"
If you create a "production" instance, the URL will not have anything added, and will simply start with your ITC name.
Examples: https://laca-ct-usas.ssdt-ohio.org (Production)
https://test-omeresa-indianvalley-usps.ssdt-ohio.org (Test)
https://train-meta-colsw-inventory.ssdt-ohio.org (Training)
We are able to automate this process end-to-end since we have control over the ssdt-ohio.org DNS domain.
