Why Should You Host State Software with MCOECN?

Why Should You Host State Software with MCOECN?

  • Two major reasons, both financial in nature

    • ZERO financial cost!

      • State Software Hosting is FREE to all ITCs who wish to host with MCOECN. We have made significant investment in building a robust multi-datacenter Kubernetes environment to host your critical applications. State Software is memory-hungry and requires quite a bit of your underlying hardware infrastructure to run it. Why not use someone else’s infrastructure?

    • Zero infrastructure maintenance.

      • Saves soft-costs of ITC Technical staff time……ITC technical staff are freed up to focus on other important technical projects at your ITC, they no longer have to deal with managing and troubleshooting Docker.

Additional perks to hosting with MCOECN

  • Applications are running in VMWare Tanzu Kubernetes. We created a specific Kubernetes cluster specifically for each ITC, so you are not running in a shared cluster with other ITCs.   The MCOECN Data Center team manages the infrastructure for your hosted applications with Kubernetes tools and scripts that allow us to scale and manage a very large number of applications with minimal effort.

  • Applications are running on two very large VMWare clusters made up of 10 ESX hosts with a total of 40TB of memory.

  • State Software Development Team (SSDT) and Datacenter team have a controlled and consistent Kubernetes infrastructure environment for all hosted ITCs, so SSDT support team can focus on solving the application problem and not waste time troubleshooting the variety of ITC underlying infrastructures.

  • Applications are actively monitored for downtime and our datacenter team reacts to troubleshoot and bring your applications back online as quickly as possible.

  • ITC Fiscal staff are given tools to reconfigure and restart applications themselves, 24 x 7, without relying on MCOECN Datacenter Team members for assistance.

  • All applications are backed up nightly, to two separate datacenters, creating an offsite backup copy daily.

  • You can continue to use your own ITC-specific domain in the URLs to access your hosted applications.

  • Your ITC technical teams do not have to learn how to deploy and manage Kubernetes.

  • Your ITC technical teams no longer have to manage Docker or use your own compute/storage resources to run State Software (which can be quite extensive).

  • Your ITC technical teams do not have to manage a load balancer or proxy such as NGINX. All hosted State Software runs through the MCOECN’s VMWare Advanced Load Balancer (formerly AVI). AVI is closely tied to Kubernetes, and they update each other through automation to add DNS entries and mappings to applications.

  • You get the benefits of automation without the headaches of managing it yourself.

  • Through our ever expanding catalog of options in the MCOECN Aria Automation Cloud Services Console, ITC Fiscal Staff can manage deployments with no need to learn the underlying infrastructure.  This frees up your ITC Technical staff for other projects, as the ITC Fiscal staff become self-sufficient at managing the applications with assistance from the MCOECN Datacenter Team.

  • The MCOECN Data Center team builds new VRA Catalog Items based on ITC feedback, to continue to improve the experience.

And, again, it is FREE to any ITC who wishes to host with MCOECN!!
