Understanding the Affects of Dock and Deferred Dock

Stretch Paid Employee Dock-

*Note*-the dock amount does not affect the Earnings.

Compensation screen before dock pay processed:

Current screen adding a Dock:

In the situation where an employee is paid REG, ACC, and DCK, such as this

REG 2074.70
ACC -747.18
DCK -1327.52

Pay Report will look like this:

When payroll is posted the REG of 2074.70 is added to amount earned, the REG, ACC, and DCK are added to amount paid which equals zero added to the amount paid so no change in amount paid, and the dock of -1327.52 is shown as a positive value in the amount docked field.  The accrued wages is just amount earned - amount paid - amount docked and is added to the accrued wages field on the Compensation record.

Stretch Paid Deferred Dock-

Compensation screen before stretch deferred dock is processed:

Adding a Current entry to dock for all days missed times unit amount:

On Save a Deferred Dock entry will appear for missed accrued and the Dock amount will be changed to Pay Per Period amount:

Pay Report will look like this:

Deferred dock does not affect amount earned, amount paid, or amount docked.  It will come into play later when it is processed as a dock in a future payroll.  So in this example:

REG 2074.70
ACC -747.18
DCK -1327.52
DFR DCK 747.18

This still affects the amount earned, paid, and docked the same as the example above.  System is still only adding the REG to the earnings, REG, ACC, and DCK to amount paid (they total zero so nothing added), and DCK of 1327.52 is added to amount docked.  Accrued wages comes out the same because the same values are added to earned, paid and docked.

Compensation screen after deferred dock posting:

The deferred dock amount of 747.18 goes to Future pay as a DCK type to be pulled into the next payroll.  It will affect the amount docked and therefore the accrued amount when it is paid as a DCK in the next payroll.

On next Payroll Initialization the Deferred Dock 747.18 pulls into Current for processing:

Non-Contract Compensation Dock-

For a Non Stretch Contract Compensation, the dock amount will be subtracted from the amount paid.

The dock amount will be tracked in the amount docked field on the compensation.
