User would like to be able to mass add/delete accounts. This is especially helpful when creating new grant accounts each year.
Classic information
Implement mass add (and delete?) capabilities for accounts. Take the following classic program capabilities into consideration: ACTSCN mass add-/mass delete, DELACT-
USASCN/ACTSCN has a Mass Add option that simplifies the process of creating new project accounts. The user enters the old and new Fund and Scc, description of new cash account, and whether to populate description for the other account types from the old account description, USAS.IDX default description, or leave them blank. Both the old and new SCC must be 9xxx SCC's. It creates a report showing the new accounts created.
When you delete a cash account in USASCN, if the user ran the DELACT report to check for deletable accounts that day or the prior day, any underlying accounts that are deletable per the DELACT file will also be deleted. DELACT also has an option to delete ranges of accounts that are considered deletable (no underlying transactions). Note: Deleting accounts may not be something we want/need to do in the redesign, but I'm leaving this information on here for now for completeness.
Note: after talking to Sara we have more to consider before anyone can start working on this issue. I've made some notes below. Once design decisions have been made this note should be removed.
To Do:
Add a button to the Cash Account view called "Mass Add" - only enabled for cash account with SCC 9XXX OR add button to top of grid, similar to Disbursements, next to Create button
The old fund will match the new fund, you cannot cross funds, the user will need to enter the SCC, which must be 9000 or greater. The new fund-scc combination must not exist. Both the OLD and NEW Fund-SCC, the SCC must be 9XXX.
Read through the GL accounts for that fund/scc. Budget and Revenue already have the necessary copy methods required. The create methods will then take care of creating the hierarchy.
account validations need to be in effect so invalid accounts are not created
do NOT copy transactions, all amount fields should be zero
user should have the ability to clone account descriptions or use AOS defaults - checkbox?
user will have to manually update cash account descriptions if they want to change it, if fy is part of desc for example
this should be done in a single transaction - all or nothing
any user who can create cash accounts has access to this button
create a new service to handle the creation of the accounts
display messages in the message viewer with regard to success for failure
show all accounts created or not from the results
collect up all errors and show
