Custom Links

Custom Links

Districts can choose to display frequently used websites in the Custom Links area of the Home screen by configuring this option under System>Configuration>ESS Functionality Configuration. The Custom Links menu options allow districts to manage which websites are displayed and to whitelist trusted websites for user access.

Manage Custom Links

Role: Users with Custom Link Manager, District Manager, or Admin roles.

The Manage Custom Links option allows these users to maintain the district’s approved websites that are displayed on the Home screen.

Create a Custom Link

  1. From the ESS menu, click Custom Links > Manage Custom Links.

    1. Enter the website URL, description, and display order to control the order in which the websites appear on the Home screen.

  3. Click image-20240506-234320.png to add the custom link or image-20240506-234437.png to exit the window without saving changes.

Custom Link Grid Options

The Custom Link grid allows users to search for existing custom links by clicking in the filter row of the grid columns and entering the desired criteria.

Available options in the grid include:

  • image-20240307-195934.png - View to display the entire custom link record. When viewing the record, the Audit Report button is available.

  • image-20251103-212450.png - Allows an Audit report to be generated using the defined start and end dates.

Manage Whitelist

Role: Users with Whitelist Manager, District Manager, or Admin roles.

Users with the Whitelist Manager role can manage trusted websites displayed on the custom links area of the Home screen. If a website has been whitelisted, users can click the link from the Home screen to be taken directly to the site. For websites that are not whitelisted, a dialog box will appear to warn the user that they are navigating to an untrusted website.

To Create a Whitelist URL

From the ESS menu, under Custom Links, select Manage Whitelist.

  • Select the display order in which you want whitelisted websites to appear on the Home screen.

  • Enter/Select a safe URL that you want to whitelist.

  • Click ‘Create’ to save the whitelisted website.

Whitelist Grid Options

Available options in the grid include:

  • image-20240610-184447.png - Deletes and removes a whitelisted website from the grid.
